Winter Iceland

Group meeting in Reykjavik at the hotel. Arrive early to have time to explore the city. Let's walk through the center, climb the famous neo-Gothic cathedral Hallgrimskirkja, go to the Harpa concert hall, take a photo on the embankment near the Sunny Wanderer. If you wish, you can go to the free geothermal beach Nauthólsvík or to the whale museum.

We get up in the dark and drive to the western cape of Snæfellsnes. On the way, we pass an underwater tunnel under the Hvalfjörður Bay and make a stop near the Seal colony. There are many small attractions scattered around the cape itself (15-30 minutes to explore): Rauðfeldsgjá canyon, Búdakirkja black church, Arnarstapi basalt arches and Lóndrangar cliffs. Well, the most photogenic mountain in Iceland is Kirkjufell. In the evening we return closer to Reykjavik.

Today we will take the classic route and this means that there will be the most tourists here. We quickly see Thingvelir - the meeting place of continental plates and the ancient Viking parliament. Then we move to the valley of geysers and watch the hypnotic eruptions of Strokkur. And finally we go to Gullfoss - a mighty waterfall with a beautiful history. On the way back we will make a stop at the small crater of Kerid and in the Hveragerdi hot spring park. We spend the night in Cellfoss.

We drive east along the southern coast of Iceland and successively see the most beautiful canyons and waterfalls: Seljalandsfoss (you can walk under the waterfall), Gljufrabui (secret gorge), Skogafoss (at the foot of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano). We drive through endless lava fields and walk along the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon. If there are those interested (taking into account the price), we sign up in advance for a tour to the ice cave under the Vatnajökull glacier. We spend the night near the Skaftafell National Park.

A very long day. In the morning we see Diamond Beach and the famous Jökulsárlón lagoon, where icebergs break off from the glacier and float into the ocean. Then begins the long return towards Reykjavik. On the way, we make a stop near Viva on the black volcanic beach of Reynisfjara and take pictures with basalt pillars. We'll also take a look at the lighthouse at the top of Cape Dyrhólaey. Well, let's go, let's go.

We're flying home. It is assumed that we returned to Reykjavik last night, but just in case it is better not to take tickets for earlier in the morning. If you want to swim in the famous Blue Lagoon (book in advance), then it is logical to do this on the way to the airport.
