Day by dayItinerary
2 Day 2. Canyon of Harmony (Goynuk), Phaselis, Mount Tahtali, Fires of the Chimera, Cirali
Transfer to the village of Goynuk (40 km, 1 hour). We leave the car and go body rafting in Harmony Canyon (2 hours). We put on wetsuits and life jackets, swim through the gorge, climb waterfalls, take pictures with a hanging stone.
We drive past Kemer and stop briefly at the ruins of ancient Phaselis. Charming Lycian ruins right on the seashore.
We are going to the foot of Mount Takhtali. We take the cable car to its top. The altitude is 2365 m - it’s cool here (take a jacket) and panoramic. We are sitting in a cafe with a stunning view of the coast and mountains. We take the cable car back.
3 Day 3. Olympos, Adrasan, Suluada Island, Finike, Arikadna, Myra, St. Nicholas.
Early in the morning we go for a walk through the ruins of the Lycian city of Olympos. They are hiding in dense thickets on the river bank - a very atmospheric place in the spirit of Lara Croft.
We drive (60 km, 1 hour) to the village of Adrasan, where we hire a boat to the island of Suluada. This is another Turkish Maldives - azure sea, snow-white sand, picturesque cliffs. We swim and sunbathe.
We return to the car and move to the town of Finike, where we have lunch. If we have enough time, we’ll make a radial foray into the mountains to the ruins of ancient Arikadna (5th century BC) or no less ancient Rodiapolis (8th century BC).
Next is the dizzying seaside serpentine road in Demre. Here we look at the ruins of Myra Lycian - a huge amphitheater and tombs in the rocks. Then we stop by to visit St. Nicholas - we look at the church where he worked in the 4th century. Overnight.
4 Day 4. Turkish Atlantis (Simena Kekova), Kas, Kastellorizo island
We are going to the village of Uchayz, from where boats launch to the Turkish Atlantis - the sunken Lycian city of Simena in a bay near the island of Kekova. We sail over sunken ruins, swim from a boat in a picturesque bay, moor in the village of Calais and explore the medieval fortress.
We drive through the mountain plateau to the resort town of Kas. If you have a visa-free regime and the borders are open, then from here you can take a boat to Greece - visit the island of Kastellorizo and look into the sea Blue Cave.
The backup option (if you can’t go to Greece) is to go to the beach in Patara. Or you can sail to Simena not on a boat, but on sea kayaks (romance + exercise). In the evening we move to the resort town of Kalkan and spend the night. Along the way we look at the unusual Kaputas beach - azure sea and white sand surrounded by rocks.
5 Day 5. Patara, Xanthos, Saklikent, Tlos, Fethiye
In the morning we see the ruins of Patara on an endless sandy beach with dunes. In addition to all the amphitheaters, you can also look at the reed ship in the spirit of Thor Heerdahl. Then we cross a whole sea of greenhouses and hotbeds and approach the ruins of Xanthos (Xanth).
In the afternoon we have fun differently - we walk knee-deep in water along the bottom of the Saklikent canyon. This is a very deep and narrow gorge with vertical walls and healing mud. Then we move to the neighboring Gizlikent waterfall, where we also wade through the water (take crocs or corals). In the evening we see the ruins of ancient Tlos and go to Fethiye for the night.
6 Day 6. Baba Dag, Kayakoy, Oludeniz, Butterfly Valley.
From Fethiye we go to the abandoned Greek settlement of Kayakoy (Lebessos). A real ghost town. Then we descend into Oludeniz to the stunning blue lagoon. There, if you wish, you can fly a paraglider (in tandem with an instructor) - in just 20 minutes you can descend from the top of Mount Babadag (1969 m) straight to the beach. If you don’t want to fly, then we’ll just go to the top by car - there are kilotons of mountain freshness and a gorgeous view of the coast.
Then we go to the village of Faralya, where the dizzying trail to the Valley of the Butterflies begins. The butterflies themselves are not of interest - the fun is in the adrenaline trail. The winners will have a beach.
If you want a more relaxed program, then instead of extreme sports in the Valley of the Butterflies, you can go to the village of Kabak and go canyoning or rent a boat to Paradise Bay. Sea + mountains = romance.
We spend the night in one of the villages on the Lycian Way.
7 Day 7. Return to Antalya, Termessos
Last day of travel along the Lycian Way. We drive through Fethiye again and make a stop at the rock tombs. Then we drive towards Antalya, but not along the “sea” route, but through a mountain plateau.
We will explore the amphitheater in the ancient city of Termessos and no later than 19:00 we will descend to Antalya. If you want, you can take an evening flight (no earlier than 22:00), then we will drop you off directly at the airport. Or you can stay in Antalya and continue your vacation at sea. In addition, you can continue your adventures and immediately join another auto tour in Turkey.
