About flooding in the Carpathians
🗓 2008-07-29
At the end of July 2008, prolonged rains occurred in the Carpathians, the water level in the rivers rose, some areas were flooded, and many bridges were demolished. Now the elements have calmed down, the water is subsiding, and bridges are being restored.
Will the planned trips take place?
Yes, all trips will take place. After all, the floods were below, in the valleys, and our routes are high in the mountains. There were no floods there even when it rained (one of our groups was on the route at that time).
However, due to bridge repairs, changes in the routes themselves are possible. For example, the hike through Gorgany on August 3 will be modified and will end not in Bystritsa, but in the village of Torun.
