We quite deliberately deviated from well-known tourist routes - if in the previous days we met other groups quite often, then until the very end of the hike such meetings became rare.

Memoirs of a Trade Clerk
Relatives and friends tried their best to dissuade me: there are only homeless people, alcoholics and maniacs hanging around the mountains. It was funny to hear, but I was worried.
But my fears were in vain - our instructor’s appearance coincided with my ideas about normal, experienced tourists. The fellow hikers also don’t look like homeless people. Maybe a little bit for tourism maniacs :-)
