The tick season in Crimea began in March.

🗓 2007-03-15

On March 8, 2007, while walking in search of the Nikitsky Cleft (Crimea, near Yalta), I was surprised to find an active tick on my clothes. The next day after a walk in the Uch-Kosh gorge, another tick was found on clothing. Until now, I was sure that the tick season does not begin until the end of April. In fact, ticks turned out to be free from prejudice and wake up when they want, and not according to a schedule. Having looked on the Internet in my spare time, I learned that the first cases of tick attacks in Crimea this year were registered at the end of February, in the village of Perevalnoye. In addition, it was confirmed that ticks do not hibernate according to the calendar, but are guided primarily by temperature. In warm climates they can be active all year round.
