All Florida

You can arrive on any flight, at any time convenient for you. Group gathering in Miami, at a pre-agreed hotel. The guide and part of the group arrive in Fort Lauderdale around 17:00 directly from a trip to Mexico. By the time they go through border control, pick up their rental car at the airport and get to the hotel, at least 3 hours will pass. So we won’t be able to do much on the first evening. At the most, we’ll go to the supermarket for something tasty so that tomorrow we don’t waste daylight hours on it.

In the morning we walk along the beaches of Miami Beach, see Ocean Drive and the famous art deco buildings. Around noon we move to Fort Lauderdale. This is the largest cruise port and theoretically from there you can sail to the Bahamas for a day (to Freeport). We will most likely limit ourselves to a walk along the canals - they are here instead of streets, like in Venice. In the evening we drive (3 hours) towards Cape Canaveral. Hotel on the shore.

We will spend the entire first half of the day at the famous Cape Canaveral spaceport, or more precisely at the Kennedy Space Center ($57). There they will take you for a ride around the launch pads and let you touch spacecraft and other stellar artifacts (like a piece of lunar rock).

After lunch we drive (1 hour) to the capital of amusement parks - Orlando. This tour does not include a visit to Disneyland or Universal Studios, but you can definitely try to drive by and take a photo with the background. In addition, we will walk through the center of Orlando. For the night we drive 2 hours towards Crystal River.

If you wish, you can dive with manatees ($65) in Crystal River early in the morning (from 6 to 9). Then we go to St. Petersburg and see the Dali Museum ($25) and the embankment, and also pass the famous Sunshine Skyway bridge. Today we have to drive a significant part of the west coast of Florida. We make several stops at the most beautiful beaches (Siesta Key, Little Hickory Island) and at the lighthouse on Sanibel Island. We spend the night somewhere in the Naples area.

This morning we will try the most recognizable attraction in Florida - we will race on airboats (from $50 per hour) through the swamps and mangroves near the Everglades National Park. We will count alligators and hold our Panama hats tightly so as not to blow away. After lunch, we will drive a little south, to the Nine Mile Pond lake area, and switch from motorboats to kayaks. There is a stunning kayaking route through a maze of mangroves. It's not difficult and at the same time smells like a real adventure. We'll go to Homestead for the night.

In the morning we’ll take a quick look at the quaint Coral Castle. Then we go to Key West for the whole day. This is a town on an island connected to Florida by an incredibly long chain of bridges and islands. Hemingway once lived here (there is a house museum, $16) and President Truman vacationed in the “Little White House.” In Key West, everyone takes pictures with a cool sign that says “Cuba is 90 miles away and is the southernmost point of the United States,” and goes to Sloppy Joe’s Bar and the freaky Mallory Square. In general, a very nice and very tourist town. In the evening we go back to the continent, to Miami or Fort Lauderdale, depending on which airport we will fly from tomorrow.

The Florida tour is over. You can fly home or stay a couple more days at sea.
