How to get to Everest?
This report is about the tour: Everest Base Camp Trek
Video blog of the leader of trekking to Everest Base Camp, Nepal, April 2017.
This detailed video report on the trek to Everest begins quite traditionally - we fly from Kathmandu to the great and terrible Lukla. It's a tiny airfield on the edge of a cliff. There we repack our things, pass the first checkpoint and begin the trek to Everest Base Camp. The Himalayas around us are not very harsh yet and we are having fun watching the life of “roadside” villages. Children play here, cherry blossoms bloom, Elon Musk is building a Hyperloop, mules go to the toilet in an orderly manner. What could be more interesting?
Very crowded morning. Hundreds of tourists are walking along the path, we are almost jostling with elbows, although there is nowhere to rush. While our porter registers us at the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park, I tell you about the solar battery that I attached to my backpack. We read out the rules of behavior in the national park and soon the long climb to Namche Bazaar begins. For the first time on this trek, Everest opens up to us, and I show a secret ritual for real trekkers.
Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar. We leave our things at the hotel and go on a radial trip to the village of Kumjung for the whole day to look at the scalp of Bigfoot. Upon returning to Namche, I buy a gas cylinder for the burner.
An easy traverse from Namche towards Tengboche. I grumble at strange Americans, advocate for protection from ultraviolet radiation and eat while sitting with my back to Everest. On the descent to the river, Comrade Sukhov meets a nostalgic birch tree and records a video message to precious Katerina Matveevna. Near the monastery in Tengboche I drink tea, and our porter tells a horror story about a lone tiger in the surrounding, not at all dense, forests.
We go from Deboche to Pangboche. Along the way, I tell you what clothes I take for trekking in Nepal. We arrive early in Pangboche and take the radial route to Amadablam base camp. There are only a few tents and only one climber.
Sunny but sad passage to Dingboche. A short tour of a Nepalese store, food prices in Dingboche. A strong wind rises. A short radial to an altitude of 4900 meters.
What do I take on radial trips in Nepal. We are going to the radial to Chukung. I fell ill and returned to Dingboche. A tour of a Nepalese lodge - what the bedroom, dining room, shower and toilet look like in a modest Himalayan shelter. My solar battery and a set of chargers for photographic equipment and phones.
Let's go to Lobuche. Memorial to the fallen climbers, radial on the moraine of the Khumbu glacier.
Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep. View of Kalapathar and Everest. Unsuccessful trek to Everest Base Camp. Preparing for evacuation.
How to prepare for trekking to Everest Base Camp. I give out tips on preparing for trekking in Nepal. Is it possible to go to the base camp without hiking experience?
Evacuation of a tourist from Everest Base Camp. How much does it cost to hire a horse in Gorak Shep? Excursion around Ferice, lecture on mountain sickness at the local first aid station. How much does it cost to call a doctor on the track? How I use a burner on the trail to Everest.
Descent from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar. Two riddles about the Himalayas. Wild goats on the outskirts of Namche.
The last day of the trek to Everest. We run down from Namche to Lukla. This is as much as 20 km - quite a lot for Nepalese trekking. I talk about the main differences between the trek to Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp. An important message to men about lipstick))
