Day by dayItinerary
1 Day 1. Lviv, Latorsky pass, Kamenka waterfall, Pylypets
Meeting of the group in Lviv at the railway station at 10:00 local time. You can arrive in advance and spend a day or two in Lviv. We will help you find affordable housing in the center.
We load our things into the minibus and the journey begins. We leave Lviv along the road towards Chop. On the way we visit the Latorsky pass and the Kamenka waterfall in the Skole Beskids, we stop in the village of Korostov for lunch. At another pass, in front of Volovets, we stop to take a photo with the Borzhavsky ridge in the background.
In the evening we arrive in Pylypets - a ski resort and just a pretty village with a preserved wooden church from the 18th century. We check into a private estate, walk around the area, have dinner in the national style.
2 Day 2. Polonina Borzhava, Mount Stiy (1681 m), Mount Velikiy Verkh (1598 m)
Things remain at the estate, and we set off lightly for the whole day on a walk along the Polonina Borzhava mountain range. We take with us a small snack, raincoats and cameras. To save time and effort, we will use a cable car (ski chairlift) to gain height. Then we go on foot to Mount Sty (the highest point of Borzhava - 1681 m) and Mount Velikiy Verkh (1598 m)
In the evening we return to the estate and relax in an excellent wood-fired sauna.
3 Day 3. Mount Gimba (1491 m), Mount Magura (1516 m)
Today is another radial for the whole day. In the morning we again take a short ride on the ski lift, and then walk to the top of Mount Gimba (1491 m). From there we go along the ridge to Mount Magura-Zhide (1516 m).
We have lunch at the top, rest a little and head back. For the sake of variety, let's go to Pylypets by another road, past the village of Izki (known since the 15th century). Overnight at the estate.
4 Day 4. Arpad Line, Schönborn Castle, Saint Miklos Castle, Kosino Thermal Baths
We have breakfast, check out of the estate, and load our things into the minibus. We go to the village of Verkhnyaya Grabivnitsa, where we will see the dungeons and bunkers of the Arpad line (Hungarian defensive structures from the Second World War). Then we go on an excursion to the hunting castle of the Counts of Schönborn (1890).
We have lunch in the village of Chinadievo (first mentioned in the early 13th century), then see the castle of Saint Miklos (15th century), also known as the “Castle of Love”. The next item on the program is the Kosino thermal baths. The water temperature is about 40 degrees. They say that bathing in hydrogen sulfide water has healing properties. Well, we'll have to check it out :) Don't forget your swimsuits!
Overnight and dinner will be in a private estate in the village of Zapson.
5 Day 5. Mukachevo, Palanok Castle, Templar Castle, Uzhgorod, Nevitsky Castle
We pack our things and go to Mukachevo to see Palanok Castle, the history of which dates back to the 11th century. Then we move to the village of Seredne, visit the famous “Turkish” wine cellars of the 16th century and the ruins of the castle of the Templar Order (13th century).
The next point on the program is Uzhgorod - the main city of Transcarpathia. Here we look at the Uzhgorod Castle and the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life (ancient houses and open-air churches). Then we have lunch and walk around the city.
In the evening we go to the ruins of the Nevitsky Castle (13th century) and end the day in the village of Lumshory, in another hospitable estate.
6 Day 6. Polonina Runa (1479 m), Lumshory vats
Today we are not going anywhere, but going on a rather long walk (12 km one way) to the top of Mount Polonina Runa (1479 m). In addition to the tranquil landscapes on the mountain, you can see an abandoned missile base from the Cold War. Combined with the instructor’s stories, all this creates a wonderful post-apocalyptic picture :)
On the way back we get acquainted with another local attraction - the Lumshor vats. This is a unique alternative to thermal baths - huge cast-iron cauldrons in which up to 6 people can simultaneously “cook” (water temperature is about 40 degrees). There is also such a vat in our estate and the water will be ready by the time we return :)
7 Day 7. Partizan Waterfall, Polyana, return to Lviv
After breakfast, we go on a walk to the Partizan waterfall (5 km one way). Then we move out of the estate and drive towards Lvov. On the way, we will stop at the village of Polyana, famous for its mineral waters, and then stop for lunch at the Lator Pass, already familiar to us, where we can also shop at the souvenir market.
Around 18:00 we will arrive in Lviv, at the central railway station. The "Carpathians Light" tour is over - you can go home, or you can again stay for a couple of days in Lviv.
The instructor can make changes to the route!
