In the suburbs of Bahchisaray (in the ancient times it was called Azis) several unique monuments of architecture of the Middle Ages were preserved. These are the Mausoleums of the crimean khans. One of the most interesting constructions is Eski-Dyurbe (old mausoleum). It was erected much earlier than the Khan's Palace - in the 15th century. On form mausoleum is a cube, blocked by spherical dome, with contiguous from south opened yard with fountain, where it was possible to sit alone, speaking inside with the deceased. The building is monumental, created in good proportions: the stone work are executed by specialists.

The Bahchisaray builders of dyurbe inspired by forms of Eski-Dyurbe a long time later. The builder of this mausoleum - Bei-Yude-Sultan (15th century) made it in the form of cube with beveled corners. The creator of the dyurbe of Akhmed-Bei (the beginning of the 16th century) made his mausoleum like Eski-Dyurbe, but without a small yard. The mausoleums of Mukhammed-Bei and Mukhammed-Girei 2 (16-17 c.) are made in a shape of well-proportioned octahedron with niches and thin, projected from the wall semi-columns.

The Mausoleums of Asis are as if specially left there so that we can follow the development of this kind of building in Bahchisaray.
