The outstanding Russian painter K. A. Korovin worked in Gurzuf for many years. In 1910-1912 he built the cottage-workshop "Salambo" on his own design. Geometrically clear-cut dimensions of the building indicated the coming of constructivism in architecture. This cottage was visited by many men of culture and art as early as before the revolution. Painters work and rest here now. Chekhov's house, bought by the writer in 1900, became one of the buildings of the Korovin Painting House.
