The palace "Yasnaya polyana"
Originally it belonged to Prince A.N. Golitsin and the estate (the palace with the park) was called 'Alexandria' in honour of Tsar Alexandr I. Later countess Panina became it's owner. It was she who invited a great russian writer L.N.Tolstoy to spend some time in the Crimea after he was seriously ill.
There is something kind and touching that this country estate on the southern coast with it's mansion surrounded by cypresses and palm-trees, embroidered with roses and ivy, has been called in our time 'Yasnaya polyana' in remembrance of Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy. And it's wonderful that there is now a recreational center for children, Tolstoy would have been especially glad to know that.
