Kanaka

Kanaka

KanakaIt is a national botanical reservation (1987) which occupies the whole right side of Kanaka river valley that lies on the coast to the east of Rybachye village. Here was preserved the relic juniper grove that yet in 1947 was declaired the natural monument. Old-aged and thickset juniper trees of 10-metres height (the contemporaries of old forests) reach the age of 300-400 years and some of them even of 700-800 years in this reservation.

Except the juniper tree which enters the "Red Book" here grows: pistache, called otherwise as turpentine, turpentine, keka tree.

The other rare species of Kanaka flora: orchis, safron, Kalye thyme - are entered in the "Red Book".
