Mud Volcanos of Crimea

The academicians N.I. Andrusov, V.A.Obruchev, V.I. Vernadskiy Mud Hills are three prohibited mud hills on the Northern-East from the Kerch peninsula, which were named in honour of the prominent scientists - geologists and geographers who had made their researches during many years in Crimea. Each of the hills has its own peculiarities. On the basic cone of Andrusov hill sometimes till 10 - 15 griffins - branch craters settle down like swelled buds. During the eruption of 1927 about 10 thousand cubic metres of mud had been poured out of the hill.
Vernadskiy hill aboundantly pours out the mud from the original mud "small lake". As far as mud dries out and vanishes, it is growing brown and cracking and forms vast fields of polygons, which are here called ground lentils. Obruchev hill is one of the biggest in the peninsula, it towers above the area at about 20 metres. When the hill mud called brekchiya dries out and vanishes, it creates some original polygonal formations.
