This report is about the tour: Trekking in Cappadocia
Review of a hike in Turkey May 10-20, 2011 Route: Lycian Way + Unreal Cappadocia
Our entire group gathered at the small, cramped Zhulyany airport long before departure. Flying up to Antalya, I gazed with delight at the snow-capped mountains and picturesque landscapes, anticipating an extraordinary journey. The weather was clear and sunny. And the sea is inviting, bright blue.
Already in Antalya we were met by our guides Sasha and Kirill. Our large group walked with Sasha along the standard route, and the second, smaller group walked with Kirill along the experimental route (another part of the Lycian Trail). Based on the results of a small vote, adjustments were made to the route, adding a trip to Cappadocia.
On the first day, I was pleased with the canyoning with the inspection of a cave, a waterfall, and a huge stuck huge stone hanging over my head. In the evening there was a difficult climb and the first stop at a river in a beautiful pine forest.
In general, every day of the hike was truly a paradise for an amateur photographer. Now white stones and a nimble river, now a pine forest, now cedars, now distant mountain expanses, nebulae, now flower lawns, now huge trees, now inhabitants.
Second overnight stay next to the Genoese fortress, an old huge tree and a powerful spring (the fastest dishwasher :-) )
And what a fabulously beautiful place the saddle of our Olympus turned out to be!!! “Natural rock garden”, a cedar forest with nebulae, its beauty surpassed everything I had previously seen. And here in the shepherd’s house we spent the night, dried out after a rainy day and sat for a long time by the Turkish stove.
In the morning, while climbing Tahtali (Olympus), we were surrounded by thick fog. It was easy to lose our way, but we all stuck together with our confident, knowledgeable guide. The ascent was celebrated with tea at the top.
After the ascent there was a long descent over the rocks, after which my knees began to ache slightly.
The next day - HURRAY! O majestic sea with a citrus scent! In addition to tasty oranges, I tried mules (yummy) for the first time.
The next day we walked along the sea along small hills with views of picturesque coves. And how many living creatures there are - grasshoppers, lizards and oh... horror! ... my husband and I encountered a large gray poisonous snake. We stopped and she peacefully crawled across our path. They didn't dare take a photo.
The parking lot was in a fishing bay with a local important beggar goose.
In the morning, something bad happened - a little yellow scorpion crawled into Igor’s backpack and bit him by the burning while he was getting ready. The bite of such a scorpion is not dangerous and does not require medical attention, but 12 hours of aching pain are guaranteed. By late evening we reached the bus station to take the night bus to... Cappadocia in Goreme.
Cappadocia is one of the most interesting places in Turkey!!! Cappadocia is an extremely interesting landscape of volcanic origin, underground cities created in 1 thousand BC. e. and vast cave monasteries, dating back to the times of the early Christians.
During the three days that we stayed there, we visited the valleys of stone pillars, a castle, a multi-story underground city, a rock church, and the famous two-tier canyon.
And we spent the night in cells carved out of the rock, but with the benefits of civilization.
We spent our last day by the sea in Antalya.
We had a very eventful, interesting, unforgettable hike!)))
