This report is about the tour: West Lycian Way
Review of the hike in Turkey Continuation of the Lycian Way in May 2011.
Hello to all participants and organizers of the recent hike along the Lycian Way!!! After reading Sveta’s story, I couldn’t deny myself the pleasure (although not in such an artistic form :) to also share my impressions of our hike. These are, of course, emotions, positive emotions, and it is quite difficult to describe them in words. But I think that every participant will understand me when I say that it was great. After all, everyone was there and saw the same beauty with their own eyes. Is it true?
Upon arrival home, as soon as you close your eyes, magnificent pictures begin to emerge, which are imprinted in your memory very clearly due to the lack of a camera with you (this forced you to photograph everything with your eyes :). I wonder how long this slideshow will last? But I like it, so I hope my memory will not let me down and will keep pleasant memories longer.
And the memories are good!!!! Sea, mountains, fresh air, wonderful travel companions - what could be better? And in the evening, a pleasant feeling of fatigue after walking a dozen or so kilometers. But the body is not yet accustomed to being so active after hibernation :) But now my legs hurt solely from sitting still (honestly!!!). As soon as you sit for an hour or two, your whole body begins to break down. I just want to walk kilometers like this... many.
And again there are pictures before my eyes, and funny incidents, and funny names of Turkish villages.
- “Kirill, what are our plans for today?” - I ask.
- “Let’s go to a wonderful place - Kabak!” - Kirill answers.
And this episode about “Gay? Nooo! Or yes? I think it amused everyone (Sveta wonderfully described, as well as everything else).
I regret that I didn’t go down with everyone to the valley of butterflies, but “courageously remained to guard the property.” But in the evening I made up for the lost experience by swimming in the rain on the beach in Kabaka. It was unforgettable and very romantic: an empty beach surrounded by mountains, menacing clouds overhead and amazingly clear water!!! Moreover, so warm and radiant, as if it was illuminated from the inside in spite of the gray sky and rain. Just a delight!!!
Friday the 13th was distinguished by burning boots in a fire, losing hats, visiting an ancient cemetery, a tough descent in the rain and spending the night in an olive grove (does everyone know the biblical story?). And what about a day like this without a birthday? Sveta accepted congratulations from us and treated us to festive halva (yummy!!!!). It was a good day :)
Rain, rain, but not for long. The next few days we walked under the scorching sun, which reminded us that we were, after all, in Turkey. Kirill saved our boiling brains with logic games and riddles. By the way, guys (here I’m addressing Natasha, Sveta and Dima), we still haven’t solved the problem about the cadet :) What happened in that classroom during the exam? Any versions? Also, has anyone figured out how to hang that picture?
Again, charming landscapes - you can admire them and admire them. Steep descents, ascents, and a constantly emerging panorama of the sea! And then jump on a bus, then another, and we’re in Cappadocia. Oh, miracle!!! Well, will nature and man create such things!? There, sitting on the terrace overlooking the never-setting sun, we congratulated our second birthday girl, Natasha. It was so heartwarming that I even regretted that I was born at the end of October, and not in the middle of May :)
And now one more jump on the bus, and sunny Antalya welcomes us. Even very sunny. But despite this, I didn’t want to go to the city beach. That beach in Kabaka remains in my memory, and the impression after it should not be spoiled by changing rooms, sun loungers, umbrellas and other attributes of a mattress rest. It was much more pleasant to wander through the intricate streets of the old city. I admit, I even managed to get lost there in the evening. It’s another matter with a companion :) And having dinner in a cozy restaurant where coffee was served with a bouquet of flowers...
Well, it's time to go home. Yes, here we are in Kyiv. And a call to my parents with the news that I was not captured or sold into slavery :) And when asked if I was glad that I returned home, the answer: “No.” After all, again I need to plunge into the everyday routine, but it was so good... But I brought with me a lot of impressions, Turkish sweets and a lasting tourist tan :) I’m already looking for my next trip (I can just go on vacation in July). So I will be glad to have company :)
Special thanks to my fellow travelers, namely Dima, Natasha and Sveta. As for me, we had an excellent international company. Thanks guys. I was glad to travel with you, and I will definitely look forward to seeing you in Ukraine - you will be dear guests.
And, of course, thanks to Kirill. I haven’t met such positive, light-hearted and cheerful people for a long time. I hope that it was no less pleasant for him to communicate with us than we were with him, and that the reconnaissance of the new route was a success. It seems to me that it was a success. Thank you, Kirill, everything was wonderful.
And, of course, thanks to Turkey. And until we meet again...
P.S. By the way, when returning home today, I bought the latest issue of National Geographic Russia for the month of June, and, to my great surprise, I found an article about Cappadocia there! And even with stereo photographs! I advise everyone to read it, and also compare it with reality :)
