It was WOW!

It was WOW!

📍 Turkey 🗓 2010 ↻ updated 2017

Faunological shock and other delights of a hike in Turkey "Lycian Way" May 16-28, 2010.

Well, I'll be the first. I immediately remember the Internet: “first on..”, well, you understand.

Usually, if there are no reports, then either everything is very bad, or, conversely, everything is too good. It’s just that in the first case you don’t want to write negative things, and in the second case you may not have enough vocabulary to express your delight.

For those who like to read books right from the end, I will say: it was WOW! Even taking into account the fact that this was already the third time in Turkey and the ability to be surprised has, of course, already dulled.

On this hike, I decided to kill two birds with one stone, and walk through the mountains, breathe fresh air, and lie on the sea. This is not for you to marinate in an all-inclusive seven nights. So, both the primary target and the second target, both goals were successfully achieved. Already on the first day of the hike, I experienced a slight faunological shock. Achtung! Scorpion! It’s one thing when you look at it on Google and can even twist a fig into your monitor, and another thing when it’s blocked your path and has absolutely no intention of running away. ...

The path is narrow, the traffic is one-lane, there are bushes on the left, something is also in the way on the right. Having previously seen them only in pictures and in the zoo behind armored bulletproof glass, I had absolutely no idea what to expect from him. As if “I’m not a coward, but I’m afraid.” It’s not for nothing that it sits on the path, just waiting for a fresh tourist to feast on. At the beginning, the thought flashed through my mind that maybe he wasn’t alive, and this is so, a souvenir that one of the tourists ahead of him brought here for some reason and forgot.

But alas, the reality turned out to be harsher. In general, the idea of jumping over it with a heavy backpack on my shoulders seemed the most optimal, and I successfully implemented it. Then another one, and another, and another, in general, after an hour I got tired of jumping over them, and, well, no, I wasn’t friends with them, but by the end of the hike, without a shudder inside, I calmly approached as much as 30 centimeters! It may seem that Türkiye is infested with scorpions, but in reality it is not so scary.

How about this: a rag lies on the seashore on the rocks. Well, you never know what kind of rag it is, you’re going for a swim and not to look at clothes. Suddenly it comes to life right before your eyes, turns into an octopus, with excellent visibility and suction cups the size of an average coin, and calmly swims away without even saying hello.

And that's not all. By the end of the hike I was too lazy to pay attention to it. "What did you notice there, huh?" If it’s smaller in size than an elephant, then I won’t go see it)) In general, every new day of the hike was sure to bring new impressions. It was never boring, quite the opposite.

And the final part of the hike is just a blast. When the peak has already been conquered, the plan has been completed, almost all the stew has been eaten and the backpack is light. The mountains are already behind us, and ahead there is only sea, sun and relaxation. We practice afternoon naps and leisurely walks from beach to beach. Many beaches have showers, which is fresh water))) and there are practically no people and no garbage...

That is, everything necessary for relaxation, in the classical sense of the word, is available. Perhaps the picture changes during the season, with people and garbage, but most likely not very dramatically.

It would seem that 11 days, it seems more than enough to get enough rest, even get a little tired of it and drive home with a clear conscience. But, as they say, “before you have time to look back,” is it all done so quickly? Would I recommend this hike - the answer is a resounding YES!
