Jazz Festival Koktebel
🗓 2006-07-20
The fourth international festival "Jazz-Koktebel" will be held from September 14 to 17, 2006. This was reported by the press service of the company Promo.Ua, which organizes the festival. The organizers did not specify why the “Ukrainian cultural Davos” moved to the velvet season, and why the duration of the festival was reduced to four days. Although, perhaps, the date has been postponed due to wishes to hold the festival at a time when the beaches and sites are not so crowded with tourists.
Last year, “Jazz-Koktebel-2005” was held from August 15 to 21 under the slogan of cultural resistance to plywood and profanity, pop music and shavarism. The festival in Crimea has become the most fashionable cultural event in the Russian capital. Moscow festival guests say that bohemians are fed up with club culture and are hungry for live music.
The selection of performers played a role last year: the enchanting theater-orchestra from Japan "Shibusashirazu Orchestra", the German acid-jazz group "De-Phazz", the group from Moscow "VFSix", which plays in the style of light trip-hop, the Kiev sextet "ManSound" and the jazz group Schid-Side, American trumpeter Lew Soloff and 14-year-old blues guitarist, singer and Canadian composer Jimmy Bowskill. All concerts and performances take place in an open area in front of the house-museum of Maximilian Voloshin. Free admission. The artists do not perform at the festival for two years in a row, with the exception of the festival’s resident, Enver Izmailov. In 2004, Jazz-Koktebel took place from July 15 to 18.
