With a child and a dog - report on a hike in Crimea in August 2005

🗓 2006 ↻ updated 2015

I had already gone on hikes with children before, but this was the first time for a dog to participate in our event. Rusya, a young and terribly purebred Airedale Terrier, significantly enlivened our trip. All day long she prowled around the group, dragging her tired owner behind her on a leash. And at night, Russia slept peacefully and not very well on my sleeping bag. I think I was asleep too, but that’s unlikely.

The Rusian hostess, Inna, was having fun in her own way. On the very first day, she chafed her legs and further movements were difficult for her. Nevertheless, she behaved simply heroically and walked smiling through her tears. Her homeland did not forget her feat and, as a reward, provided her with a horse to climb South Dimerdzhi.

The dog couldn’t ride a horse and went with us along a completely different path. You understand, we had to show extraordinary imagination to force the not very obedient dog to go in the right direction.

Unlike the dog, the child, seven-year-old Margot, walked independently and easily. Her cheerful bows and doll in a pink backpack contributed to a great mood. And to make my mood even more upbeat, I decided to take a non-standard route - through the peak of Northern Dimerdzhi. Inna and I have long dreamed of visiting this mountain to finally unravel the mystery of its horns.

For those who are not in the know, I’ll explain - from Chatyrdag you can see that on the top of Northern Dimerdzhi there is some kind of cunning horned structure installed. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be... a basketball court. Common sense thought a little and said that this was absurd. Two metal shields on supports appear to be some kind of reflective system for transmitting radio signals through the mountains. In general, an incredible number of mysterious pieces of iron and other unidentified objects are scattered in the Crimean mountains.

I would also like to note that the world has not yet run out of good people. As we were descending from the waterfall to the coast, a passing truck stopped and the driver offered a FREE lift to the sea! Many thanks to him.

рассвет над морем

We spent the night on the seashore, and in the morning I woke up at half past five and did not regret it. I was able to photograph an incredibly beautiful sunrise, watch dolphins and climb a small rock.
