Round dance among the Sherpas

While trekking to Everest Base Camp this November, we were lucky enough to attend the Mani Rimdu festival at Tengboche Monastery, Nepal. Mani Rimdu is celebrated for a whole week - they dance, sing, pray, and stage theatrical performances. We ended up at the “night of round dances”. Sherpas from all over the Khumbu region gathered in the courtyard of the monastery and danced all night long. Many tourists also join them, and the monks continuously serve tea and sandwiches.
