This report is about the tour: Lycian Sea
Photos from a hike in Turkey Lycian Sea in May 2016. It was a short but very dense and intense hike along the bays of the Lycian coast of Turkey. In 3 days we managed to immerse ourselves so thoroughly in camp life and the Mediterranean Sea that in the end we barely surfaced :)
The trek started with lunch in Kas. This is a cute resort town, where there are many flowers, few beaches and there is at least one IZH "Planet 4" motorcycle.
At the exit from Kas, road workers were laying out paving slabs. One of them insisted that I photograph it.
We proudly walked past this gorgeous beach. I was too lazy to take off my backpack :)
But in the evening we basically put everything aside (including dinner) and went swimming.
At the same time, we took pictures with the scary ropes in the background. More precisely, these were safety ropes on a steep climb to one of the coastal tombs of the Lycian nobility.
In the morning the sun burned with such enthusiasm that we remembered with sincere nostalgia the coolness of last night.
From our bay it is only 5 km to a small Greek island. Bell towers, churches and mobile phone towers are clearly visible.
In the second bay, we excitedly jumped over the rocks and settled down for a rest on the beach.
And we sat down for lunch in the third bay. According to the precepts of the ancients, in addition to our daily bread, we devoured spectacles - kittens storming our sausage and a man in a boat towing a large sailboat.
On the way to our overnight stay, we had to drive away a small snake dozing off on a rock in the middle of the path.
At the overnight stay I set up my new tent “on the rocks” for the first time. This does not mean the type of soil under the bottom (although there was stone there too), but the method of attaching the guy ropes. The pegs didn’t want to go into the hard ground, so I stretched the tent with the help of ten healthy cobblestones. Considering the strong wind at this site, the experience was very useful.
Take a closer look - the tourist in the next photo has a “seat”. What's surprising? He is not “ours”! It's a Turk! I have never seen seats with elastic on foreigners.
A road was suddenly built to the next bay (it didn’t exist 4 months ago).
We crawled to the pass and wildly rejoiced at the bad weather. If it weren't for the clouds, walking here wouldn't be so much fun.
We turned as much as 2 kilometers deep into the continent. Wonderful, shorn goats and their shepherds came out to greet us - tourists don’t come here very often.
After lunch, part of the group went to the top of the hill to explore the ruins of the ancient Lycian city of Apolonia. And the rest hid under the awning (part of my tent) and began to wait for the rain. We waited))
In the evening the heat finally subsided, but I still didn’t want to rush anywhere.
We passed another ancient ruin (the site of Aperlae) and settled down for the night in the middle of an olive plantation.
When it finally got dark, the sea breeze suddenly stopped and the tent became unbearably stuffy. I had to crawl outside and raise the “wings” of the tent to improve ventilation.
In the morning we took a boat to the sunken Lycian city of Simena. Personally, I was most impressed by the huge sea turtle that we spooked in the bay.
At the end the boat dropped us off at the Kale fortress (butter). My fellow travelers suddenly realized that the hike was ending and they urgently needed to swim and sunbathe.
I went on a photo hunt. There were few trophies, but is there any point in them?
The guys had a hard time tearing themselves away from the sea, we packed up and went for ice cream :)
Of course, I'm joking about the ice cream. But this was practically the only way to somehow motivate the group to move away from the water.
On the way we saw a ship repair yard and a sunken sailboat.
The final landscapes finally finished us off.
How is it going home after this?
