Repair of walkie-talkies in Kyiv
If your walkie-talkie breaks down, you can go to a regular household appliance service center and with a high probability find out that your device cannot be repaired. Or you can contact a specialized radio workshop and significantly increase your chances of success. I don’t repair radios (on the contrary, I break them), but I can recommend an excellent specialist in Kyiv who has repeatedly brought my camping radios back to life.
We are talking about a well-known master in Kyiv - Konstantin Vladimirovich from the Elar radio workshop. As far as I understand, this was once a large office with a decent staff, but now, due to the fall in demand for walkie-talkies among taxi drivers, business has shrunk to a minimum.
My impressions
Konstantin Vladimirovich is an excellent master. I'm not very knowledgeable about radio engineering and I can't always clearly explain what's wrong with my stations. They work in very difficult conditions (moisture, dust, frost) and as a result, they often begin to “become naughty” on the sly. This is when the question “What are you complaining about?” you can’t answer anything intelligible, there’s something wrong with the device and that’s it. Nevertheless, Konstantin Vladimirovich always found a malfunction and successfully fixed it - he changed buttons and controls, uploaded new firmware, soldered and configured something.
Payment is made upon delivery, i.e. when you pick up an already repaired product. On average, minor repairs cost me 100 hryvnia (4 dollars, at the 2015 exchange rate). Usually repairs take 1 week, but if you need it urgently, we can also negotiate.
Address and directions
Radio workshop Elar is located in Kyiv at the address - Ushinskogo street 40. This is a modest room on the territory of the Dominion business center. The territory, I must say, is huge, the building is very long with a bunch of entrances, if you start poking around at random, you will lose half a day. To get to the workshop, you need the very last (i.e. farthest from the entrance) entrance.
If you are by car, then feel free to enter the business center. They enter through the right barrier. Just tell the guard “I’m going to the radio workshop,” take his pass and go around the building from the back, right side. After going around the far end of the building, park near the last porch. Enter the building, there will be stairs on your left. Go up to the third floor and go through the first door. There is no obvious “Radio Workshop” sign on it, but as soon as you open the door, everything immediately becomes clear - the tables are littered with radio equipment and all sorts of oscilloscopes. Konstantin Vladimirovich usually sits in the adjacent room, it is to the left of the entrance.
To leave the territory of the Dominion Business Center, continue driving counterclockwise. Exit through barrier No. 2 (see diagram) - there you will need to give your pass to the security guard. There is no need to make any notes on the pass in the workshop.
Under no circumstances drive along Ushinsky until the intersection with Chokolovsky Boulevard. Immediately after Antonov Street the eternal traffic jam begins. The fact is that there is a radio market "Karavaevy Dacha" and two lanes and three are occupied by parked cars. It's better to turn onto Antonov.
