The frozen snow not only reduced the likelihood of avalanches, but also significantly reduced the speed of our movement - it was very slippery. Watching the oncoming groups, I seriously thought about including lightweight crampons in the list of recommended equipment (for spring trekking to Annapurna). They weigh about 400 grams (2 times lighter than mountaineering ones) and cost about $15 in Nepal. Later I will buy and test them and then I will write more about chain cats.
