Review of the Kovea Supalite Titanium burner

Review of the Kovea Supalite Titanium burner

Review of the super-light gas burner Kovea Supalite Titanium. Thanks to the use of titanium instead of steel in the design, it weighs only 60 grams. Moreover, its power is enough to boil 1 liter of water in five and a half minutes.

Having written a review of the Kovea Power Nano Stove a couple of days ago, I decided to dig around in my camping equipment warehouse to find and describe the rest of the gas stoves at my disposal. In the picture below I have arranged them in chronological order. On the left is the newest Nano-covey, and you are already familiar with it. In the middle is the heroine of today's review, Koveya Supalight Titanium. And on the right is the good old Primus Mimer, about which I also made a video.

I’m ashamed to admit, but I bought a lightweight titanium burner out of nothing to do. Yes, I really love light equipment, but it just so happens that I almost never go hiking with gas. On long trips abroad it is much easier and cheaper to go “on gasoline”. The larger groups I usually deal with are also easier to feed with gasoline. I use gas only on car excursions and when the lights go out at home :) And the lightweight burner was bought simply for collection, as an antagonist for the relatively heavy Primus Mimer.

The difference in weight is really impressive - 60 grams versus 240 (265 if you count the case). Even the elegant Kovea Nano is almost a third heavier than Titanium (its weight is 97 grams), and if you add the weight of the protective case, it is even twice as heavy (118 grams). As you understand, when the gambling fight for every gram begins, there can be no question of any covers. Therefore, the Titanium comes without a case or fabric bag (at least that’s what my copy was like). Anyone who wants to can stuff the burner into a plastic bag - there’s no need to go overboard here.

The supports for the pot of the Kovea Supalite Titanium burner are laid out very simply, without any multi-pass combinations, like the Kovea Nano. There are only three legs. One of them is rigidly fixed, the other two just need to be turned slightly and that’s it. It is not at all necessary to fold back the additional “extensions” of the legs. By the way, they don't look very strong. But for a super-light burner this is forgivable - it’s unlikely that anyone will cook food on it in 10-liter pots, this would kill the whole idea of making the equipment lighter. And with small pots, up to 3 liters in volume, these supports will do an excellent job.

The nozzles are located on a truncated cone and form a flame of a completely familiar shape.

In the test for boiling one liter of cold water, the Kovea Supalite Titanium burner showed exactly the same result as the Kovea Power Nano - 5 minutes 30 seconds. But at the same time, she managed to spend a quarter less gas - 15 grams versus 20. So the weight savings also manifested themselves in economical fuel consumption. True, you have to pay for the weight savings elsewhere... I mean at the store checkout :) Titanium costs $57 on average, and Nano costs $35.
